Career-focused workshops, meeting with advisors, and the Career Fair — these resources are still available to you this semester. But, like many things in life, they’re being offered virtually.
“The Career Center is your go-to source to begin your career and professional development journey at Georgia Tech,” said Casey Hampton, graduate career development advisor. “Whether it’s through workshops provided by our office, one on one meetings for resume or cover letter reviews, assisting in processing an internship to aid in your off-campus development, or simply talking through your job search with you, we're eager to help.”
Whether you’re just getting started with your career search or you’ve already lined up some interviews, the center can help. Graduate students can take advantage of new resources like the Career Chat Hour with the center’s career advisors or career fair prep workshops to gear up for the virtual All-Majors Career Fair on Sep. 21-22.
Check out this list for more professional development resources you can use this semester:
- Virtual Advising: Set up an appointment any time with one of the Career Center’s graduate career advisors to get advice on your job search, go over your resume, or just figure out the next step in your professional life.
- Career Center Workshops: Brush up your professional knowledge on anything from introducing yourself to a recruiter to writing a great cover letter at these free online workshops.
- Information Sessions: Learn tips for applying to jobs and what opportunities are available from employers in all areas at the center’s virtual information sessions. Check out the calendar on their website to see which companies you can learn more about.
- Graduate Internship Program: To get some work experience while finishing your program, set up a meeting with your graduate co-op advisor to verify your internship or co-op. If you’re still looking for an internship, try some of the helpful links on the center’s website.
- Career Fairs: In addition to the All-Majors Career Fair in September, graduate students are also invited to virtual career fairs throughout the semester. Check the center’s calendar for career fairs in a variety of disciplines including aerospace, computing, and civil engineering.
- Video Series: If you can’t make it to a workshop or just want a quick refresher, check out the center's video series for advice on making the most of career fairs, writing cover letters, and updating your resume.
