Increasing numbers of Georgia Tech faculty are incorporating videos in their teaching in order to support their students’ learning and now considering what role video might play in the semesters ahead. What are the various possibilities for using video in a course — and what resources are available to support your efforts?

If you’re interested in learning more, join your colleagues for the Teaching Studio Academy: Planning and Creating Instructional Videos. You’ll get the chance to gather ideas, explore new video concepts, tour the new Teaching Studio in the Library, and develop a video to use in your course.

The academy consists of 3 parts: Parts 1 and 2 consists of a 2-workshop series followed by Part 3, an individualized scheduled consultation. The academy is facilitated by Peter Ariev, Learning and Technology Specialist in the Center for Teaching and Learning, and Alison Valk, Instructional Coordinator and Multimedia Librarian, Georgia Tech Library.

You do not need to have attended Part 1 to attend Part 2.

Teaching Studio Academy Part 2 : Create a Storyboard for your Video

Location: Crosland Tower Fourth Floor Classroom

Date: Thurs. Nov. 10

Time: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch provided.

In this workshop, we will move to the actual design of your video. You will learn about storyboarding; why it’s important and how to get started. 

You will choose a topic for your video, connect it with your learning objectives, and then create a storyboard for it. We’ll consider what visual elements, instructional activities, and content structure you want to use and learn how to incorporate them into the storyboard.

By the end of the workshop, you will be prepared for the next step in video development and closer to making your video a reality.
