Professor June Manning Thomas is an emeritus professor of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan. A renowned urban planning scholar whose work has focused on race and social equity, legacy cities, and planning’s effort to revitalize them, her current book examines her formative life experience desegregating a high school in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
Following the book talk, Prof. Thomas will be interviewed by two SCaRP students regarding her career, the field of urban planning, and the challenges facing planners and leaders working for racial justice and social equity in our society today.
