Join the Georgia Tech Library and Lost in the Stacks, the one and only Research Library Rock'n'Roll show, Tuesday, Sept. 19 for a live podcast taping concerning the Fulton Bag and Cotton Mill exhibit and history.
This event will take place from 11 a.m. to noon in the Library’s Scholars Event Network Theater, located on the first floor of Price Gilbert.
Hosted by Public Engagement Librarian Charlie Bennett, the discussion will feature Exhibits Program Manager Kirk Henderson, Exhibits Associate Connor Lynch and University Archivist Alex McGee in conversation about the Fulton Bag and Cotton Mill. The exhibit, now on display in the Library’s Exhibit Gallery, located on the first floor of Crosland Tower, opened in August and will welcome visitors through March 2024.
“We’ll discuss the intertwined histories of the mill and Georgia Tech,” said Bennett. “Including why it was integral to the founding of the A. French Textile School in the late 1800s, now the School of Materials Science and Engineering.
“We will also explore how the Library’s Archives and Special Collections Department procured the materials for the exhibit and the expertise involved in creating a public history of a venerated Atlanta site.”
Portions from the discussion will be used for the Lost in the Stacks episode Friday, Sept. 22, which airs at noon on WREK 91.1 Atlanta, and is then available as a podcast for download.
