In early March, five preliminary rounds of the competition were held and the following 10 Ph.D. students and one master’s student were selected to compete in the final round:
- Ashley Alva, Electrical and Computer Engineering (Ph.D.) Tracking Immune Cells with Ultrasound for Diagnosis of Breast Tumor
- Ryan Benkert, Electrical and Computer Engineering (Ph.D.) Learning what we Forget: Empowering Artificial Intelligence with Reliable Uncertainty Estimation
- Abigail Diering, Chemistry and Biochemistry (Ph.D.)
Sugar Transport in Nitrogen Fixing Plant Bacteria Symbiosis for Biofuel Crops - Zeou Dou, Civil and Environmental Engineering (Ph.D.)
Selective Ion Separation for Sustainable Agriculture - Miguel Gonzalez, Chemical Engineering (Ph.D.)
Creating Next-Generation High-Capacity Batteries - Jonathan Gosyne, Mechanical Engineering (Ph.D.)
Going Off Road – Moving in Sand, Snow, Mud - Timothy Min, Music Technology (Master's)
Convert Heartbeats into Music - Abigail Paulson, Biomedical Engineering (Ph.D.)
Sensory Flicker as a Potential Therapeutic for Alzheimer’s Disease - Fernanda Piorino, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (Ph.D.)
